Maitland Basketball Association (MBA) has a very proud history in the Maitland region. MBA started in James Street, Maitland behind the current site of the Maitland Regional Art Gallery in 1957.
From this humble beginning we have grown
to be one of the premier Basketball Associations in Country NSW.
In 2000, we moved into the Maitland Federation Centre (MFC) at Bent Street, Maitland. MFC is the Hunter’s premier indoor sporting facility. While Basketball is a key focus of the facility, MFC has more than 40,000 people come through its doors
each year to attend both sporting and non-sporting events.

Each week several Maitland primary & secondary schools also use our facility for school sports programs, encouraging our future generations to stay active and be healthy.

MFC has even been used to host children’s birthday parties!!
MFC is also the home of the Maitland Mustangs and both our Junior & Senior Basketball teams play in state-wide competitions on a yearly basis, bringing competitors from all over NSW to our great facility.
Maitland City Council data has also shown that single events run at MFC bring in over $2.25M of additional revenue to the Maitland economy.

As noted above, the MFC plays host to a significant number of weekly, monthly, and
yearly events where people from Maitland, the Hunter, NSW and even across all of Australia come into our facility to enjoy sports or other cultural and community events.
