Jerome Coleman was appointed President of Maitland Basketball Association (MBA) 17 February 2020.
Jerome started his association with MBA watching his daughter Ella playing U16 representative basketball in 2017. Ella transferred to the Maitland Mustangs as junior representative and state player from Mount Gambier South Australia.
Jerome commented “The Maitland Mustangs made Ella and the family feel very welcome. It was a big change for Ella moving interstate. In return, I wanted to help the club and say thank you.”
Jerome has been associated with Basketball for over 30 years. He played for the Corio Warriors in the Geelong Victoria as a junior. Later he coached the Junior association basketball for 14 seasons in Geelong (Corio Warriors) and Portland (Coasters). More recently his focus has been supporting his children Liam and Ella in representative and state basketball.
Apart from a love of Basketball, Jerome has a strong business background which lead to his appointment as a Director of Maitland Basketball Association Inc. last year. He has held CEO / CFO positions for many years and is a qualified CPA, and associate of the Governance Institute (formal the Chartered Secretaries association). He was also Chair of United Way Glenelg a large not-for- profit community based organisation for over 5 years.
“I would like to thank my fellow Directors for their support. We have a strong and capable skills based Board. We are all looking forward to working with our passionate and hardworking Operations team to grow and improve the Mustangs. I hope to see you around.”
