Maitland Mustangs NBL1 Women’s Head Coach

The Maitland Mustangs are looking for our NBL1 Women’s Coach for season 2023.


The Senior Head Coach [Women’s] will develop and sustain a strong core group of athletes and coaching staff for the Senior Women’s Program to compete in the NBL1 East, with a focus on building a pathway for our Youth League and Junior athletes.


We are looking for a coach with the following skills and attributes:

  • Be of good character and be willing to submit to a National Police Certificate check and hold a current Working with Children Card.

  • Proficiency in the use of Video Editing including Hudl.

  • Great communication skills, friendly, approachable and willing to listen – must be able to communicate and deliver the program.

  • High level organisational and management skills (personal and program).

  • Provide leadership and quality control of all programs you are responsible for.

  • Able to work within a team environment including all staff.

  • Capable and willing to make decisions within areas of delegated authority.

  • Must have a positive approach which is reflected in their coaching techniques.

  • Be able to demonstrate and use authority and initiative, balanced with a practical and common-sense approach.

  • Be able to mentor and develop a broad range of athletes and coaches.

  • A proven background in sports coaching and program development.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
  • Annual improvement in competition results.

  • Annual improvement in the number of local players represented in the team.

  • Ability to follow strategies in line with the Director of Coaching.

  • Involvement of the Senior Team within the Junior and Youth Program.

  • Involvement of Junior and Youth players in the Senior Program.

  • Development of team staff as part of a succession plan.

SELECTION CRITERIA Essential:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop players and teams.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding at the relevant level of competition.

  • Ability to lead, train and communicate with players, team staff and officials in a disciplined, professional and informative manner.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to make decisions.

  • Driven by strong ethics and values, is open, honest and accountable for their actions.

  • Association (Level 2) Coaching Accreditation.

  • Proficiency in the use of Hudl or willing to undergo training.
